Frequently asked questions

Most common errors and questions about installing and using myPocket technologies software on a Pocket PC. If your question isn't here, contact support — the developer answers every email.

General

QI tried to run the software and got an error that I need the Microsoft eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime installed. What do I do?

If you have Pocket PC 4.20.1081 or above, you need the eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime for Pocket PC. Download the file here (a .cab served from a historical .html URL — rename it to .cab after downloading) or obtain it from Microsoft. Put the .cab file on your PDA and execute it there to install the runtime.

QI installed the application on my PDA and now when I try to run it I get "There is no application associated with…" — what am I doing wrong?

I have noticed that some applications, when uninstalled, remove important shared components that other applications rely on to work properly. You will need to install a utility called VBRegFix. After you install it, run it, then reinstall your application.

The original VBRegFix download was hosted on this site but the file was not preserved in the web archive.

QI tried to install the program and got: "Cannot Install: SETUP or INSTALL program filename contains folder information. Use Actions/CheckOut instead."

You could be trying to install the application from within WinZip. Uncompress the application to your hard drive first, then run the SetUp.exe file to install.

QI downloaded the software, double-clicked the .EXE file and it worked — but it is not on my PDA?

If the file you downloaded was an .EXE, it is a self-extracting archive that uncompressed the files to your C: drive. I suggest looking under your C: drive for the software.

QWhere does the .EXE file uncompress the files to?

When you uncompress the new software, by default it creates a new folder on your C: drive unless you specify otherwise.

QWill you send me the update as soon as you create a new version?

I will send you the updates if you email me. You must state the name and email address you used when you ordered the software, and also include what type of PDA you are using.

QHow do I register? I just bought the application from Handango.com or PocketGear.com.

If you purchased the application online, you do not have to register the software. Only if you have the demo and want the full version would you need to register.

Baseball Tracker

QWhen I install Baseball Tracker Desktop I get a .dll error saying I already have something newer than the one I am installing.

This is normal. If you have another application that uses the same .dll files that Baseball Tracker uses, you may get these errors. Just remember you never want to overwrite a newer file with an older one — in those cases you can just choose "ignore" and move on.

Password Juggler

QI tried to install the desktop version of Password Juggler 2003 and it says my installer is not the correct version. What is that?

The installer requires the latest Microsoft Installer Service (version 2.0) on your computer. The original Windows Installer download files (Windows 95/98/ME and Windows NT/2000) were hosted on this site but were not preserved in the web archive; you can obtain the Windows Installer redistributable from Microsoft.

QHow do I convert my old database from 2002 to 2003?

First you need to get Password Juggler 2003 installed correctly. To do this you must uninstall Password Juggler 2002 on your PDA — this will not delete your passwords. Once that is done, install the new 2003 application and run it. After you log in, navigate to File → Change Login. At the bottom of that screen you will find the feature that converts old passwords: click "Locate Database", locate your old database PJ2002, then click "Convert Old Database". You're done.

Note: for the desktop version, make sure to uninstall the old 2002 application first, then install the new 2003 version and "Transfer" the database from your PDA to your PC. See the Password Juggler 2003 Manual.

QI installed Password Juggler 1.0.0 on my PDA but when I try to start it I get: "Database 'My Documents\quicksave.cdb' does not exist."

You need to import the database, as stated in the "README BEFORE INSTALLING!!!!!.txt" file, step 4.

QI get a "(String value)" error when I open Password Juggler.

You may need to upgrade your ROM from ROM Revision 2.07.00 ENG to ROM Revision 2.14.00 ENG. There is a bug with the 2002 OS upgrade.

QEvery time I put a ' (apostrophe) in as a category, password or username I get an error. I am using Password Juggler 2002, version 1.2.1.

Please upgrade Password Juggler 2002 to version 1.2.2 or higher.

QWhen I install Password Juggler Desktop I get a .dll error saying I already have something newer than the one I am installing.

This is normal. If you have another application that uses the same .dll files that Password Juggler uses, you may get these errors. Just remember you never want to overwrite a newer file with an older one — in those cases you can just choose "ignore" and move on.

QWhen I try to install Password Juggler Desktop I get an error about older .dll files and a restart. When I restart and try again, I get the same error.

Find the SETUP.LST file in the same folder as the SETUP.EXE you use to install Password Juggler. Open it with Notepad or TextPad and look for the bootstrap files section:

[Bootstrap Files]
File1=@VB6STKIT.DLL,$(WinSysPathSysFile),,, 6/1/99 1:00:00 AM, 101888, 6.0.84.50
File2=@COMCAT.DLL,$(WinSysPathSysFile),$(DLLSelfRegister),, 5/31/98 9:06:38 AM, 22288, 4.71.1460.1
File3=@STDOLE2.TLB,$(WinSysPathSysFile),$(TLBRegister),, 5/4/01 12:05:02 PM, 16896, 2.40.4517.0
File4=@ASYCFILT.DLL,$(WinSysPathSysFile),,, 5/4/01 12:05:02 PM, 143632, 2.40.4517.0
File5=@OLEPRO32.DLL,$(WinSysPathSysFile),$(DLLSelfRegister),, 5/4/01 12:05:02 PM, 164112, 5.0.4517.0
File6=@OLEAUT32.DLL,$(WinSysPathSysFile),$(DLLSelfRegister),, 5/4/01 12:05:02 PM, 626960, 2.40.4517.0
File7=@MSVBVM60.DLL,$(WinSysPathSysFile),$(DLLSelfRegister),, 8/18/01 6:00:00 AM, 1388544, 6.0.92.37

Now delete the following lines: File2, File5, File6, File7. Save the file and reinstall.

QI get a "6 overflow" error when I try to transfer my database in Password Juggler.

Your PDA is not connected, or you might have a firewall problem. Make sure the file PJ2002.cdb is on your PDA. You must have run Password Juggler at least once in order to create that file.

Pocket Bartender / Pocket Drink Wench

QI installed Pocket Bartender on my PDA but when I try to start it I get: "Database 'My Documents\pBartend.cdb' does not exist."

You need to import the database, as stated in the "README BEFORE INSTALLING!!!!!.txt" file, step 4.

Still stuck? Check the update history for the latest fixed versions, or write to support with the name and email address you used when ordering, plus the type of PDA you are using.
